The Company of Greek Philologists is an exclusively scientific Association, founded in 1948 by the excellence of Greek philological science. The aim of the Society, according to its current statutes, is.

In January 1949 the First General Assembly of the H.E.F. was constituted and the following members of the First Board of Directors were elected in turn:

4. Anagnostopoulos Konstantinos, Professor, University of Athens.
5. Konstantinos Vourveris, Professor of the University of Athens.
6. Ilias Lagios, Educational Advisor.
7. George Kourmoulis, Professor, University of Athens.
8. Fragiskos Zafirios, Head of Gymnasium.
9. Xanalatos Diogenes, Headmaster.
10. Papagiannopoulos Ioannis Papagiannopoulos, Headmaster.
11. Vrycheas Michael, Assistant Headmaster of the Gymnasium.
12. Tsoufis Anastasios, Headmaster.

With the First Board of Directors, the Society of Greek Philologists enters the stage of its operation fully and legally, fulfilling a long-standing request of the Greek Philologists. Since then, the Society has been continuously active in the scientific and educational field, aiming at the essential cultivation and dissemination of the Greek language in its timeless form as well as the promotion of humanities and classical education.
